System engineering from Hamburg: servers, networks, virtualisation and automation — from the test environment and fault analysis through to monitoring. I work in a structured way, document as I go, and stay on it until the cause is found, not just the symptom.

What I work on

Four fields I am at home in — from the network through to automation.

Infrastructure & servers

Windows and Linux in production, Active Directory, virtualisation with Proxmox, containers with Docker. Build, migration and operations — including backup and recovery paths.

Network & access

LAN, VLAN, WLAN and VPN, firewalls, routing and switching at CCNA level. Plus clean access concepts: making services reachable without exposing them to the open internet.

Automation & monitoring

Turning recurring work into scripts (Python, Bash) and schedules. Watching systems, defining thresholds and letting them report — instead of hoping for the best.

Fault analysis in the field

Narrowing down faults across software, hardware, network and operating system boundaries — building test environments, reproducing, documenting, bringing in vendors.

How I work

Understand first, then change: I build a test copy of the environment, narrow the fault down systematically and write the solution up so it helps again next time. Changes to live systems come with a way back — never a gamble.
